It wasn't until the five companions had basically stumbled into it that they realized the danger it held; immediately they doubled back. Tyus picked his way through the dying trees, his feet moving slowly across the marshy ground. Soon he found a path that cut far to the side of the lantern, keeping a safe distance from the ward. Minutes passed in silence, the oppressive air of Wander's End Swamp clinging to the group like a second skin. Eventually, however, they stopped again as another lantern broke through the haze that drifted through the trees.
